Man accused of Olakha homicide case arrested

CentralPlazaMurderA layman handed over the 39-year-old man, accused of homicide case at Olakha, Thimphu, to Punakha police, yesterday.

The accused went missing from January 13, after a dead body was found outside the Central Plaza building located near Shearee Square in Changjalu.

The apartment, where trail of bloodstains from the victim’s body lead to, belonged to the accused.

The police said the man has confessed to the crime. They also said he has past criminal records and had been convicted for a year and three months earlier. Blood-stained cloths the police had found also belong to the accused, they said.

A 37-year-old co-accused was also arrested from Olakha in Thimphu, last night.

As per the Penal Code of Bhutan, homicide is a first degree felony and a defendant shall be awarded lifetime imprisonment for murder, treason or terrorism.
