Bhutan Cancer Society launched

Bhutan Cancer Society launchedCoinciding with the World Cancer Day today, Her Royal Highness, Ashi Kesang Wangmo Wangchuck officially launched the Bhutan Cancer Society at Memorial Chorten in Thimphu.

It is a Civil Society Organization with a purpose to promote cancer care and prevention through education, advocacy and research.  Apart from these functions, the Bhutan Cancer Society is working to improve access to provide spiritual, psychological and financial support to people living with cancer.

Her Royal Highness also offered butter lamps at the memorial chorten for people who died of cancerous diseases in the country.

Stomach cancer, oral, throat and neck cancer, cervical cancer and thyroid cancer are the most prevalent in the country.
