Following a letter from Anti-Corruption Corruption, Haa Dzongkhag has suspended Budget Officer and District Engineer in connection with Lhakhang Karpo case.
They were serving as Project Engineer and Project Manager during the construction of the Lhakhang. They are said to have involved in corrupt practices during the construction of the Lhakhang.
Last month, the former Haa Dzongkhag, currently serving as the Foreign Minister was granted “authorised absence” for his alleged involvement in the Lhakhang Karpo construction.
The Foreign Minister was charged with abuse of functions
The first court hearing of the case will begin in Haa District Court from February 9 onwards.
The Office of Attorney General (OAG) registered the case with the Haa District Court on January 23.
After two years of investigation, the case was forwarded to OAG by the Anti-Corruption Commission in August, last year.
The case involves seven individuals, including the Foreign Minister.
