Gyalpoizhing Forest Range intercepts illegal sandalwood

sandalwood-MonggarGyalpoizhing Forest Range office seized 100 cubic feet of sandalwood from Zimzorong in Monggar, this morning. The wood was found hidden under sacks of rice in a truck that was travelling to Paro.

The range office was able to intercept the sandalwood after they received an anonymous complaint.

The sandalwood are supposedly brought in from India.

Gyalpoizhing’s forest officials said the owner is based in Paro.
