A Nu.41M Urban Water Supply Scheme for Gola Town, under Tashichhoeling Gewog in Samtse, begins after a ground breaking ceremony, yesterday.
The Counsellor for Economy and Commerce from the Embassy of India in Bhutan, Nina Tshering La graced the ceremony.
The project is funded under the second batch of Small Development Projects (SDP), a part of Government of India’s grant assistance to Bhutan in the 11th Five Year Plan.
The Urban Water Supply Scheme for Gola Town is expected to complete next year July. It is expected to help improve clean drinking water supply, which today is a major concern in Tashichhoeling Gewog.
The GoI’s SDP finances a wide range of projects mostly geared towards addressing rural poverty.
