DashoChhewangRinzinConsidering the current country’s economy and fiscal scenario, the Pay Commission, says it will be difficult for them to come with recommendations for salary revision of the Public Servants.

The Chairperson of the Commission, Dasho Chhewang Rinzin, said while everyone is expecting a salary raise; they have to look at provisions of the Constitution which ensure that current expenditure  be met from the domestic revenues.

Dasho said even the private sector is going through difficult times, and there are no loans available. “The government itself is facing insufficient financing to take up most of the projects .The government has recently issued numbers of directives on austerity measures to cut down expenditures.”

Given the situation, Dasho said, it could be difficult for the Pay Commission to come up with recommendations. “But definitely we would try to work within overall constitutional provisions to ensure that we make both ends happy. But it is going to be a difficult task for the Pay Commission…”
