Class XII English paper leakedThe Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment (BCSEA) has received complaints that the Class XII English II paper was leaked.

The committee is investigating to establish the fact and submit the report to the higher authorities for relevant actions.

BCSEA has received the complaints through phone calls on December 13 after the examinations were over. BCSEA had then formed a committee and had started the investigation immediately.

“The case is strong,” said the committee’s Secretary, Kinga Dakpa. He said if the paper was leaked and spread across the nation, it warrants re-conducting of the exam throughout the country.

“It would mean a lot of financial implication.” He also said apart from candidate, parents and the public, it would be inconvenient to other agencies that rely on BCSEA for their activities.

The rumor doing the round is that the paper was leaked from one of the private schools.

The Principal of Pelkhil Higher Secondary School, Umesh Kumar, the rumor that it was leaked from a private school, is baseless and demoralizing for the hardworking and honest students.

However, he said the paper was leaked. He said he came to know about it after he called up a few people. He said these people had received bits and pieces of information through text messages.

“But, I don’t think it benefited Thimphu.” Umesh Kumar said even if it did, it could just be one or two of them.

The need for re-examination will be decided depending on the outcome of the investigation.

“If a school is responsible for the leakage, that school will be penalized,” said Kinga Dakpa. “If a person is involved then that person will be penalised according to the law of the land.”

About 10, 450 students, from 18 private and 32 government schools had appeared for the Class XII examination.
