Armed men abduct 14-year-old from GelegphuArmed men have abducted a 14-year-old boy from the Fishery area in Gelegphu on December 16.

The police said the boy’s father received a call at 5 AM on December 17, from the kidnappers, demanding Nu.10 million as ransom.

The boy was guarding the paddy field near Fishery area, along with his paternal uncle, Hari Kumar, when armed men tied up their hands and started dragging them towards the border.

Hari Kumar, 30, said when he refused to comply, the abductors beat him up and strangled him. He said he was left unconscious by a stream. He said the abductors must have presumed he had died.

He regained consciousness two hours later. Hari Kumar said he hid in the nearby bush until the wee hours of the morning and ran home.

The police were informed an hour later after the boy’s father received the call from the abductors. The abductors had used Hari’s phone to call the father.

Police have gathered all information and given it to their counterparts in India.
