A group of Bhutanese students are learning Choekey, a classical language, from a Japanese researcher and a historian, Dr. Yoshiro Imaeda. Dr. Yoshiro Imaeda is conducting the course on his own expense.
He said majority of Bhutanese are not interested to learn Choekey as they find it difficult.
Some of the students said they are learning Choekey to improve their Dzongkha. They said the course has widened and deepened the understanding of Dzongkha.
There are around 19 students, including an Indian and two Japanese, attending the course.
