HM-Tshogchang-The people of eastern dzongkhags received His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen by offering Tshogchang, along the way.

His Majesty and the Gyaltsuen were on their way to Kanglung in Trashigang to celebrate the 107th National Day of the country.

The people had waited in several groups, along the highway, to greet His Majesty the King and the Gyaltsuen and offer Tshogchang.

His Majesty had stopped in Ura in Bumthang.

While His Majesty was interacting with the people, a mobile phone rang out from the crowd. Much to the amazement of the crowd, His Majesty took the phone and spoke to the caller.

The woman caller was calling to find out about His Majesty’s arrival in Ura. And she was waiting in Sengor to offer Tshogchang to His Majesty the King.

It was 11:40pm, when His Majesty and the Royal entourage arrived at Lingmithang in Monggar. Although late and cold, people had refused to leave for homes before catching a glimpse of His Majesty. His Majesty stopped and attended to every Tshogchang the villagers had brought along.

Dasho Sangay Wangchuk from the Royal Privy Council, said offering Tshogchang is an age-old tradition, where people seeks an opportunity to see, interact and welcome the guest by offering their best locally brewed Ara and their harvest of the year.
