BPC compensates family members of men electrocuted in Trashigang-The Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC) compensated the family members of the four men, who were electrocuted in Trashigang. The family members of each man received about Nu.220,000.

BPC’s Regional Manager, Kunzang Dorjee, said the amount is excludes the expenses incurred during the time of the cremation and their wages.

“According to Labour Act they will be able to get only Nu.135,000,” said the Manager. However, he said after assessing their situation, BPC felt they should be compensated more. “We compensated according to BPC’s rule.”

The family members said the money would help them raise their children.

Meanwhile, the BPC’s Technician, who was on duty at the time of the mishap, has been released on bail.

The case is now at the Trashigang Court.
