A 27-year-old man drowned in the Wangchu River in Thimphu at around 8:30 PM yesterday. The incident happened when he was out fishing with two friends.
The police said the deceased and his friend had slipped from a rock while looking for a location to cast the net and they had fallen into the river. The friend was able to swim to safety downstream.
The police also said the deceased’s head was covered by the net which could have caused the drowning.
The police said they do not suspect any foul play.
