Lyonchhen on a state visit to Bangladesh

PM-DhakaThe Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay arrived in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, this morning. He is on a three-day state visit. Lyonchhen, who is accompanied by the Foreign Affairs and the Economic Affairs Ministers, are in Dhaka on the invitation of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Upon the arrival at the Hazrat Shahjalal international airport in Dhaka, Prime Minister was received by Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Others present were, the Finance Minister, Foreign Minister, Commerce Minister and other officials. Lyonchhen was received with guard of honour.

Following the guard of honour, Lyonchhen visited the National Martyrs Memorial-which symbolizes bravery of the martyrs who scarified their lives for the liberation of Bangladesh.

To mark his visit, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay also signed the visitor’s book and planted a sapling of Mangnolia Grandiflora- an evergreen tree.

Later in the afternoon Lyonchhen met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and discussed issues of mutual interests.

The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Hassan Mahmood Ali also called on the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh’s government has considered a plot of land to construct a permanent Bhutanese embassy in Dhaka. A Memoranda of Understanding for the renewed trade agreement and the land were signed, yesterday.

Bhutan and Bangladesh also renewed the existing bilateral trade agreement.
