NC reiterates that BOiC establishment is illegal

NC-BOICThe National Council resolved the government must urgently come up with legislations for Business Opportunity and Information Centre (BOiC) so that in the future such establishments are instituted only after the authorisation of the Parliament. The house also asked the same for the Agency for Promotion of Indigenous Crafts which was set up by the previous government a few years ago.

The eminent member, Dasho Karma Yezer Raydi explained that the house supported the government’s economic stimulus plan by passing the supplementary budget appropriation bill 2013. However the establishment of BOiC, which was in the plan, was not supported by the house.

Dasho Karma Yezer Raydi said the establishment of the centre was illegal since it was instituted under no law. He said, during the previous session, Prime Minister was questioned on the legality of the centre. Prime Minister had said that if BOiC was proven illegal, the government will close the centre. MPs from Bumthang and a few others supported Dasho Karma Yezer Raydi’s statement.

It was a heated deliberation since most of the MPs argued that the centre was illegal. The final decision was reached after 21 members voted in favour of endorsing the resolution.
