Dagana Dzongkhag Court sentenced the Principal of Drujeygang Higher Secondary School to three months in prison for inflicting corporal punishment on a student.
The Principal, however, had paid a thrimthue in lieu of the prison term.
The court has also ordered him to pay Nu.225,000 compensation to the boy.
The verdict states the student suffered a ruptured eardrum after the Principal slapped him twice.
The incident occurred on August 22.
Meanwhile, the Principal’s has been reinstated and has joined the school.
The boy is continuing his studies in the same school.
