Rolling Trophy Badminton Open Championship held in Gelegphu

Rolling Trophy Badminton Open ChampionshipHari Gurung of Penden Cement Authority Limited (PCAL) defeated Subarsan Lama from Gelegphu to win the men’s single in the final of the Rolling Trophy Badminton Open Championship.

The finals were held yesterday in Gelegphu, coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

In the Doubles, team from Phuentshogling won against the PCAL team.

Fifteen players participated in the single category and 20 teams took part in the double category.

The five day tournament was open to both men and women but only one woman turned up.

The winner of the Single Category took home Nu.15,000 and a trophy.

The runners up received Nu.10,000 and a trophy.

Winners of the double category received a trophy and a cash prize of Nu.30,000.

The runners up took home Nu.20,000 and a trophy.

The tournament was also to provide a platform for badminton enthusiasts in the country.

Teams from seven dzongkhag participated in the tournament.
