LhakhangKarp-Ha-OAG(Update): The alleged corruption case of Lhakhang Karp construction in Haa is still with Office of the Attorney General (OAG). The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had forwarded the case to OAG almost two months back. The Attorney General, Phuntsho Wangdi, said the case is under review and that he cannot comment on when the review would be complete.

The OAG will decide if those involved in the alleged corruption should be prosecuted or not, according to the Attorney General.

Investigations by ACC had found out that the contract for timber sawing was awarded unilaterally by the former Haa Dzongda, who is now serving foreign minister.

The ACC findings also revealed that the construction materials were siphoned-off from the site and that the register, which contains records of labourers’ payment, was tampered with. And the construction materials were also found to be of low quality.
