TruckersAttacked--Bhutanese commuters plying via Indian routes are concerned especially in light of frequent threats posed by miscreants. On Saturday, five trucks narrowly escaped an attack after they were pelted stones. Although, all the truckers escaped safe, windshields of four trucks were reported to have been cracked.

The five trucks were on their way to Gelegphu carrying cement from Nganglam. The incident took place near Santabari, about 50 kilometers from Gelegphu, when they were pelted stones. It was about 6PM.

The truckers made no stops and continued with their journey. Soon after arriving in Gelegphu, they lodged a complaint with the police.

Meanwhile, the Police in Gelegphu have cautioned people to refrain from traveling on the highway especially during odd hours.

According to the police, people still travel on the stretch of the road near Santabari despite repeated sensitisations.

However, the Police are in dialogue with the local police in the area to ensure safety of Bhutanese commuters.
