The Health Minister, Tandin Wangchuk, has committed that the Monggar Regional Hospital will have enough doctors. Even though the Monggar Regional Hospital has 13 Specialists and two doctors, it is difficult for the team to cope up with increasing referrals from eastern dzongkhags.
Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk said the ministry has started specialist’s course in the country which should be able to address the health staff crunch the country is currently facing. “At the moment we have nine of them.”

He also said the problem is not limited to Monggar Regional Hospital. He said the hospitals in Thimphu and Gelephu are also facing same problem. “If we can, we would like to have specialists even in Dzongkhag hospitals.”
In addition to the 13 specialists and twp doctors, the Monggar Regional Referral Hospital has a little over 300 other medical attendants and technicians.
