Peripheral Neuropathy outbreak in Zhemgang(Update): It was the Peripheral Neuropathy outbreak in Gongphu Lower Secondary School in Zhemgang, confirms the preliminary investigation report.

A team from Thimphu was in Zhemgang to investigate why 35 students had fallen ill after they complained of swollen legs. The investigation took a week and concluded that students were suffering from vitamin B deficiency.

The team conducted blood and urine tests of the affected students.

The team says they will send some more blood and urine samples to the Thimphu National Referral Hospital for further tests.

All the 35 students suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy have been recovered.

The team says the outbreak could be controlled on time because the Dzongkhag Health Officials along with hospital staff of Yebilaptsha and Gongphu acted fast and carried out immediate prevention and treatment.
