GoIFund-ParoAirportExpansionThe Department of Civil Aviation will be receiving Nu.680 MN from the Indian Government for the ongoing Paro airport expansion works.

The Government of India had agreed, in principle, to commit the amount in the 11th Five Year Plan during the recent bilateral talks, held in Thimphu.

The Director of the Department of Civil Aviation, Wangdi Gyeltshen, said details are yet to be discussed. He added the largest bulk from the grant- around Nu.200 MN, would go into the airport’s second passenger terminal, which is already under construction.

The airport will also have a new taxiway parallel to the runway, security quarters and a new fuel depot among other new structures.
