A 19-year-old woman was gang raped on Wednesday, during the night of Vishwakarma Puja in Thai Temple area in Thimphu. The incident took place at around 10:30 pm.

The police report says the girl was in a bar with one of the accused, prior to the incident. The man, along with his friend, took her above the Thai Temple and raped her.

After the two men left the scene, another man who saw the incident, also took advantage of the situation and raped her.

The case was reported to the police by her husband. After receiving the complaint the police on duty went to the site and caught one of the suspects. The other two men were apprehended during the early hours the next day. The girl was referred to the hospital.

The investigations are still going on and the police are yet to receive the forensic reports. The three men involved in the crime will be produced in the court. They are under detention.
