The police have apprehended a health worker for circulating the picture of Bumthang’s suicide victims. He was detained on September 12, two days after the incident.

The health worker had been part of the investigating team of the suicide case.

His statement to the police says he had sent the picture to his four friends through Bluetooth in Bumthang. The statement says he had also sent the picture to two of his colleagues in Monggar and Wangdue Phodrang through social media.

The picture immediately went viral on social media, according to the police.

The parents of the victims had lodged a complaint to the police, the same day.

The health worker has been charged under harassment case, section 462 of the Penal Code of Bhutan.

Section 462 of the Penal Code of Bhutan states that a defendant shall be guilty of offence of harassment if the defendant engages in a course of conduct that places a person in a reasonable fear of emotional and mental distress.

The police forwarded the case to the Bumthang Dzongkhag Court, today.
