Some of the people at Tagmochhu in Lhuentse were shocked to receive electricity bills, for the last one month, in four digits.
“In the past, we used to pay only about Nu. 100-200 but now it is about Nu. 7,000,” said a resident of Tagmochhu in Lhuentse, Pema Choden.

The locals say about 10 households received electricity bills in four figures.
However, the power officials in Lhuenste said it is the actual amount calculated for the energy consumed. They say the amount had been lower in the past because of error in meter reading. The amount, which was not reflected in the earlier bills because of the error, was added to the latest bills, taking the figures up.
Now, the people are planning to appeal to the higher authorities.
