Family members receive calls demanding ransom- Kidnap-GelegphuThe two men, who went missing last week, have been abducted. Their family members have started receiving calls demanding for ransom.

Both the men went missing from Auzarguri under Chirang district in Assam, India. It is 21 kilometres away from Gelephu and eight kilometers from the nearest police station of Runikhata in Chirang.

The Officer In-charge of Runikhata Police Station, M Narzary, said they received information about the breakdown of the vehicle late but when they reached the spot it was empty.

The two men were on their way from Phuentshogling to Gelegphu carrying construction materials, when their vehicle broke down. The Superintendent of Police said carelessness of Bhutanese travellers and poor road condition are two major factors attributing to abduction of the Bhutanese. He said the thick jungles and the pothole-ridden road from Samthaibari in Assam till Gelegphu border gate makes it difficult for vehicles to travel.
