Kidnapped men released after paying ransom-GelegphuFour Bhutanese, who were kidnapped on August 7 from Norbugang under Sarpang Dzongkhag, were released yesterday. The victim’s family paid Nu. 375,000 per person and collected the victims from Shanitpur in Assam. The victims have been referred to the Sarpang hospital to check their medical condition.

Two more Bhutanese men aged 30 and 48 have gone missing between Shantipur and Runikhata under Chirang district in Assam since 11.30 pm on Friday. They were on their way to Gelegphu from Phuentshogling with construction materials when their vehicle broke down. Gelegphu police suspects it to be another case of kidnapping.

Security in the region has been beefed up and police requests all the travelers to avoid the shortcuts and make it a point to reach Gelegphu before dark for their Safety. Police, with the help of Indian counterparts, have already started the investigation and will visit the site from where the two Bhutanese men went missing.
