ContinuingEduCurrently, there are over 24,000 civil servants in the country, out of which more than 1,200 are continuing their education in Sherubtse College, the Royal Thimphu College and in College in India.

According to most of them, they are upgrading their qualification because they were deprived of one when they were young. They also added it has now become vital to upgrade their qualifications for better positions and incentives in the current work environment.

Meanwhile, the Royal Civil Service Commission is in the process of discussions to disallow working civil servants to engage in degree programs. Even if one decides to resign from the Civil Service to do their degrees, they will have to appear for the Bhutan Civil Service Common Examination in order to join the civil service again.

The RCSC says, the plan is yet to be finalized. The Commission has held consultative meetings on the same throughout the 20 Dzongkhags, discussing with each and every Civil Servant in every part of the country.
