Farroad-SeaphuThe farm road of Nakha in Saephu Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is in bad condition. Locals have been maintaining the road but of little or no avail.

With no budget available at the moment, the condition is unlikely to improve.

The farm road was constructed by the Wangchuck Centennial Park in 2009.

The road was also once maintained with the gewog development grant of Nu. 2mn.

According to the locals, they landed up contributing labour for about two months in a year.

They added it is taxing as they have to sacrifice their farm works for months at times, and their crops are destroyed by wild animals.

Some of the Tshogpa raised concern that there is no budget for maintenance at all.

The Dzongkhag Agriculture Officer from Wangdue Phodrang, Sonam Zangpo says, “As such there is no separate budget. If they confirm availability of budget and submit an application, we would be able provide the support within a month.”

He added the dzongkhag can provide a machine to maintain the road if the locals are ready to bear the cost of the fuel.

For now, with no budget, 27 households of Nakha village are worried as it is time for the farmers to sell potatoes in Phuentshogling.
