Government will stick to its decision- Home Minister on pay hike- The Home Minister, Damchoe Dorji said they will stick to their decision on the recent pay raise. There have been requests and pressure from all sections of the society, including the National Council and other political parties, to reassess the government’s decision.

“Pay revision is under criticism but the government will go ahead with it,” said Lyonpo Damchoe Dorji on BBS’s programme Doksel. He said the second Pay Commission came up with the the proposal after much study and analysis of the country’s economic situation.

But many believe the government hardly took up recommendations by the Pay Commission.

The Home Minister also said the National Council’s decision to defer the pay hike disrespects the Parliament’s decision.
