Gelegphu Industrial Estate-.Planning for the much awaited Gelegphu Industrial Estate is complete. It was supposed to be implemented beginning this year but could not materialise.

The Gelegphu industrial estate will be established in an area spanning over a 100 acres. It falls between the Gelegphu town and the Gelegphu Domestic Airport. Map for the estate has been prepared from last year.

The Thromde had plans to distribute the land to private individuals beginning this year and start works at the site.

However, it could not materialise, as 52 acres of the land identified for the industrial estate has been included in the Gelegphu Domestic Airport. A replacement has been identified near the Army Welfare Project for which the Thromde had to develop a new plan.

The Gelegphu Thromde is said the plan would be implemented by next year.

“…We are ready with the plan but we are also getting ready for the demarcation of the plots by August…” said Gelegphu Thromde’s Urban Planning Division Head, Chophel Dorji.

According to the plan, factory showrooms will be established along the highway while the automobile workshops and other factories will be situated at the back of the showrooms.
