LordBuddha'sParinirvanaPeople across the country observed Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom by visiting Lhakhangs and Goendeys. In Thimphu, hundreds of people gathered at the Tashichhodzong to receive blessings from the Neten Chudru Thondroel.

The public also received blessings from the sacred Nangtens that were displayed for public veneration. Other religious sites like memorial chorten were packed with people who came to offer prayers and butter lamps.

Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom is observed on the 15th day of the fourth month of Bhutanese calendar. It was on this day Buddha was conceived, born, and subdued evil, gained enlightenment and attained Nirvana. It is considered as one of the most auspicious days for Buddhists all over.
