To promote chess in the schools, the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) and the Bhutan Chess Association (BCA) with support from India Chess federation donated four hundred sets of chess to the Department of Youth and Sports (DYS) today.

Considering the benefits of chess in fostering creativity, concentration and problem-solving skills, BOC feels that chess will contribute to the holistic development of the youth.

On the other hand, the BCA seeks to partner with DYS to enhance social chess programs through capacity building courses for teachers and school sports instructors, and other developmental projects.
