Second Sandalwood consignment seized in just two days,smuggled sandalwood,Tsento Gewog,ParoA second consignment of illegal sandalwood has been confiscated in Paro in just two days. More than 50 pieces of smuggled sandalwood was seized from Tsento Gewog in Paro at around 6am yesterday.

After a tip-off, officials from the Paro Divisional Forest and Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Park jointly intercepted the pickup truck carrying over 500 kilograms of sandalwood. The offender will be fined around Nu. 4,50,000 and a separate fine of around Nu. 4,00,000 for the vehicle.

As in all cases, the sandalwood had been smuggled in from India to be exported to China.

Another consignment was intercepted yesterday.
