Under the project KR II, Grant Aid Agreement for the, “Food Security Project for underprivileged farmers”, was signed at the Gross National Happiness Commission office in Thimphu, yesterday.
The agreement was signed between the Officiating Secretary of GNHC, Thinley Namgyel and Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan, Yumiko Asakuma.
Through this project, the government will avail around 140 sets of power tillers worth of about Nu.68 MN.
Bhutan has been receiving the KR II grant assistance for underprivileged farmers since 1983 and has received about 2,600 sets of two wheeled power tillers and tractors.
The Japanese assistance, particularly the power tillers, has reached as far as the eastern most part of the country.
