The annual Paro Tshechu ended today. His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen graced the last day of the festival.
Their Majesties offered prayers and interacted with the people gathered at the festival.
The highlight of the last day of Paro Tshechu is the unfurling of the Guru Tshengye Thongdrel. The thongdrel is unfurled as early as four am.
As is the case every year, thousands thronged to offer prayers and receive blessings from the Thongdrel. By dawn break, Deyankha, where the festival is held and the Thongdrel unfurled, was packed with people, all dressed in their finest.
Paro Tshechu is one of the biggest and popular festivals in the country. It draws thousands of people including tourists every year.
