Meet the People- GelegphuA different type of ‘meet the people’ programme has begun in Gelegphu. Under the programme, the doctors at the Gelegphu Central Regional Referral Hospital are meeting the people, every Wednesday.

The initiative is to educate the people on health related issues and also improve health services through better communication and feedback system.

Every Wednesday, doctors and other health staff will speak to the people on the field they are specialised in.

Today, the spoke on mental illness and other related problems. The talk highlighted the prevalence of mental illness in the country and the services available at the hospitals.

The talk was attended by the students of Khendrup Higher Secondary School and Gelegphu Lower Secondary School. They were educated on how to identify a problem, especially related to addiction.

While many people believe the initiative is good, it is the sustainability, they are worried about.
