Renovation-Zimchu Wongma LhakhangPeople in Talog under Punakha now have their own place to conduct religious rituals. They took upon themselves to renovate the 300 years old Zimchu Wongma Lhakhang. They contributed Nu.3.5 million after the fund released by the government wasn’t enough.

The Lhakhang, located just below Talog Goenpa, is said to have been built by Chotruel Jigme Singye, the third reincarnation of Desi Tenzin Rabgay.

The renovation began in 2011 and was completed last year.

The Community Coordinator, Hodo Tshering, said they took up the responsibility of renovating the Lhakhang as the people of the community were facing tremendous difficulties in conducting rituals. “We faced many problems when somebody died in the village.”

Talog Chiwog’s Tshogpa, Jigmi, said the renovating process has also strengthened their social fabric which otherwise was fragmenting.
