Bio-gas is becoming popular. From South, the project has now spread to the central Bhutan. Six households from Ruebisa Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang have been identified on a pilot basis.
Six bio-gas plants were constructed last week in the gewog. The project is being implemented by the Department of Renewable Energy with technical support from the SNV. Farmers said it will change their lives.
It is also expected to address the problem of buying LPG cylinders which are expensive.
Meanwhile, certificates were also awarded to locals and livestock extension officers for attending training. This is the second phase of the project funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The project was first launched in 2011.
