bridge over Mangdechhu at Rindigang. The construction of 115-metre-long suspension bridge over Mangdechhu at Rindigang in Zhemgang has come to a standstill. In fact, the foundation of the bridge, which is almost complete, will be stripped off, to make way for a new design.

The officials with the Department of Roads (DoR) say the old design was scraped off because of some technical issues. However, some sources BBS spoke to said, the new design would not have been able to support heavy vehicles.

The new design, the officials say, will be of superior quality compared to the bridges in the country.

Without the bridge, people of Upper Kheng will not have access to 18.3km national highway which was completed in July last year.bridge over Mangdechhu at Rindigang

The Road from Rindigang in Phangkhar Gewog to Degala under Bardo Gewog in Zhemgang was built for the construction of the Chamkharchhu Hydro Power Project phase-1. The hydropower project will also not be able to use the road until the bridge sees the completion.

The Indian Government had granted Nu.185 million for the construction of the road.

The road constructed by the Construction Development Company limited was handed over to the DoR in September, last year.
