PM-budget allocationThe government released a capital budget of Nu.6.5 Billion in the last six months. The parliament had passed the budget in September, last year. The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, during the Question Hour session in the National Assembly, yesterday said they haven’t been able to release sufficient budget to the local government.

Lyonchhen was answering to the question asked by the Khar-Yurung MP, Zangley Dukpa. He has questioned the Prime Minister about the pending works due to the lack of budget.

“One of the reasons is delay in Small Development Projects.” Lyonchhen said the government is currently drawing out the agreement on programs worth Nu 8.5 Billion. “Many programmes were implemented in the past without clear results. So the government had to rework on the agreement of the grant for the programme.”

The Opposition Leader then questioned government on how they intend to implement the small development projects.

The Prime Minister said that they are working on a revised regulation   on the implementation of Small Development Projects with the Indian Government.

Lyonchhen also added there are spill-over activities worth Nu.5.4 Billion from the 10th Five Year Plan. He said the government is also looking at ways to complete these activities.
