HM-LandKidy-Trashigang. His Majesty the King granted land Kidu to 13,336 thram holders in Trashigang, resolving longstanding land issues in 10 dzongkhags.

The recipients include those whose land could not be surveyed earlier.

A press release from the Royal Office of Media says the historic exercise to resolve land issues that existed for decades in the country has now reached its midway milestone.

The land Kidu exercise has been completed in Lhuentse, Monggar, Trashigang, Trashi Yangtse, Wangdue Phodrang, Bumthang, Haa, Dagana, Punakha and Trongsa. More than 76,500 thram holders in these 10 dzongkhags have received land Kidu from His Majesty the King.

The press release says His Majesty would continue to resolve any problems that they may still have. “When people are able to live with dignity and pride, we will fulfill our national goals as envisioned by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo,” His Majesty said.

His Majesty also granted tokha. Later in the day, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen visited the Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck Choling Lhakhang in Khapti, in Samkhar Gewog. More than 2,000 people had gathered to offer Tshogchang to Their Majesties.
