Two Bhutanese taxis have gone missing in the Indian state of Assam. The taxis, which were on their way to Samdrup Jongkhar from Phuentshogling, were last spotted at Pathsala on Wednesday. The Eco Van and Wagon R were ferrying two passengers of Indian origin, each.
The drivers said they had reached Pathsala at around 5:30pm. The passengers had persuaded them to spend the night in the town which falls under Barpeta District. They said they were offered alcohol which they refused. The last thing they remember that night was drinking tea.
They woke up the next day to find the passengers and their taxis missing. They said they were drugged. One of the drivers also lost Nu.7,000 and some belongings.
The Samdrup Jongkar police said both the taxis had left for Samdrup Jongkhar without registering at Phuentshogling Check Post. The officials said they had cautioned the drivers not to travel during odd hours. They are investigating the case with the help of Indian police.
