Indian Community celebrate India’s 65th Republic day

65thRepublicday-India.The Indian Community gathered at the Indian Embassy in Thimphu to celebrate India’s 65th Republic day, earlier today.The celebration began with the hoisting of Indian national flag. The Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, V P Haran read out the President of India’s address to the gathering. In his address, the president said India has witnessed one of the fastest growing economies in the world in the last decade.

65thRepublicday-IndiaFollowing the speech, the Gyalpoi Zimpon, Ugyen Namgyel, offered Tashi Khaddar to the Indian Ambassador on behalf of the Bhutanese government and the people.

It was on this day in 1950, when the Constitution of India came into effect, and India became an independent republic. Thereafter, January 26 has been celebrated as the Republic Day of India.
