BeautyParlour-P-LingBeauty parlours in Phuentshogling will not be allowed to carry out any other activities, apart from cutting hair and beautification, a notification from the Regional Trade and Industry office in Phuentshogling, reads.

The notification comes in the wake of a prostitution case reported from one of the beauty parlours.

The notification was issued to the parlours on December 27, 2014. “Any other activity apart from the licensed ones will be liable for fines and penalties,” said a trade official.

Trade officials also said they have not come across any parlours providing massage services during their inspections.

However, BBS has learnt that there are beds placed in separate rooms adjacent to the main parlour. Clients coming for massage are taken into these rooms by masseuse.

But the parlour owners say the beds are used for head message and beautification.

There are 43 parlours and salons in Phuentshogling.
