Lhuentse District Court sentenced a 29-year-old man to nine years imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old girl.
He is the father of an abandoned newborn that was found in a bush in Tangmachu, Lhuntse. The police had located and arrested the mother for abandoning the child and the teenage mother had revealed who the father was.
In another verdict, a 26-year-old man from Medtso Gewog in Lhuntse was also sentenced to nine years imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl student.
The incident took place in October this year.
