FIFA-WordldCupTrophy-BhutanFor the first time ever, hundreds of Bhutanese football enthusiasts got opportunity to get up close with the FIFA World Cup Trophy. Some even got opportunity to get pictures with the Trophy.

UnveilingofWorldCupTrophyThe Iconic authentic, solid gold FIFA world cup arrived in the Country, this morning. It is part of FIFA World Cup Trophy tour organised by the Coca- Cola Company in partnership with FIFA and Bhutan Football Federation.

The authentic FIFA world cup trophy, which measures about 14.5 inches and weighs more than 6 kilograms, was unveiled by His Royal Highness, Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck at the Changlimithang stadium.WorldCupTrophy

It is made of solid 18 carat gold.  The trophy is awarded to the winning nation at every world cup. The winner retains it until the next world cup and then it is replaced by a replica, which is a gold plated one.

The trophy arrived from Bangladesh in its charted plane to Bhutan and it was received by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Norbu Wangchuk and Bhutan Football Federation President, Ugen Tsechup Dorji.

Bhutan is one of the 90 countries in the world to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour. The trophy’s next destination is Nepal.
