Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck Choling LhakhangHis Holiness the Je Khenpo consecrated a newly constructed Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck Choling Lhakhang in Trashigang yesterday. The Lhakhang was constructed to pay tribute to His Majesty the King.

HH-Jigme-Khesar-Namgyal-Wangchuck-Choling-LhakhangThe new Lhakhang in Khapti Goenpa under Samkhar Gewog in Trashigang is a tribute to His Majesty the King for his long life and continued peace and prosperity in the country.

Sonam Dukpa, a prominent businessman based in Samdrup Jongkhar, constructed the Lhakhang.

Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck Choling Lhakhang was constructed under the guidance and supervision of Gyeltsen Trulku Kunzang Tempey Gyeltshen. Gyeltsen Trulku conceptualized all the Lhakhang’s design and the wall paintings by referring to some religious texts. The Lhakhang has wall paintings, which are unique only to this new Lhakhang. For His Majesty’s long life, a Khingkhor, known as Tshepamey Lulang has also been built in the second floor of the Lhakhang.

His Holiness the Je Khenpo also consecrated the new Thongdrol for the Lhakhang. The thirty-five feet tall Guru Tshengay Thongrdrol was constructed for His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo’s long life.

Towards the evening, hundreds of people from nearby gewogs received Tshewang, the blessing of longevity from His Holiness the Je Khenpo.
