JOCVs celebrate 25th anniversary

JICA_25YrsThe Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Bhutan celebrated their 25th Anniversary at the clock tower in the capital, today.

Some 30 former volunteers were also present at the anniversary celebration.

In the last 25 years, the agency has served the country in various aspects of development like architecture, civil engineering, physical education, IT and other socio-economic development.JICA_25Yrs.

Ever since the first young volunteer arrived in 1988, over 370 volunteers were sent in the country, along with over a hundred senior volunteers.

A total of over 490 volunteers served and shared their skills and knowledge in various fields of expertise in the country.

Currently, 28 volunteers are serving in country in various fields, along with 16 senior volunteers.
