The Dramedtse-Ngatshang MP, Ugyen Wangdi, in the National Assembly today, asked the government why over 3,000 graduates had to sit for the preliminary examination of the Bhutan Civil Service Examinations (BCSE).
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had promised to do away with the preliminary examination for the graduates sitting for the BCSE. It was reflected as their pledges to fulfill within the 100 days after they come to power.
The Labor and Human Resources Minister, Ngeema Sangay Tshempo, responded saying they couldn’t do away with the examination as they had little time to discuss the matter with the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC).
But, he said, there are plans to get RCSC on board to do away the next preliminary exam which will, otherwise, be held next year.
Not satisfied with the answer, the Nubi-Tangsibji MP, Nidup Zangpo, said the government has failed to live up to their promise. He said the government’s inability to fulfill their promise would have disheartened most of the youths, including the graduates who voted.
This year over 3,500 students registered for the preliminary examination. Of the total, over 3,000 sat for the examination. Over 1,600 got through the exam.
