Goods-worth-Nu.700,000-confiscatedThe Regional Revenue and Customs Office in Phuentshogling confiscated goods worth Nu.700,000. The goods were intercepted on the highway near the customs office on Friday at around 8.30 pm. An informer tipped off the Customs officials.

The confiscated goods included plastic furniture from third country for which import has been banned. The consignment also had undeclared hardware and computer appliances.

According to the Customs officials, the import-banned item will be confiscated as per the directives received from the Department of Revenue and Customs, Thimphu. For the undeclared goods, the importer will be liable to pay a fine of 50 percent of the total value of the undeclared goods.

Along with alcoholic beverages, import of furniture from India and third country was banned since mid of last year.
